Synthesis is the rearrangement of parts and elements into a new combination or version. In the case of the arbor, we began with many pieces of wood and started assembling them into sections, each of which would eventually find a place in the overall structure. The building of a new idea, a solution or a proposal can proceed in a similar fashion. A plan to deal with the issues of the Snake River might be made up of many different sections, each of which might have impact on the others. There might be a section for modifications to dams and another one for irrigation issues and strategies. A dozen or more sections and plans will eventually stand synthesized into one comprehensive action plan. Page 13 1. Looking for Plans & Conventional Wisdom 2.
