Karen Brooks is a curriculum coordinator for Canyon Independent School District in Canyon, Texas, and she is an experienced educator at the school and district level.
In an instructional capacity, as a classroom teacher, Karen worked with students in grades 6-8 in several content areas including reading, English, and social studies. During this time Karen served as teacher mentor, language arts specialist, and coordinator of the gifted and talented program. She has taught in several school districts, both public and private, in Texas and Nevada.
Following her service as a classroom teacher, Karen worked with district level coordinators as a reading/learning specialist in a Las Vegas, NV middle school. As a member of the administrative team, she facilitated the work of curriculum revision, led assessment teams, and implemented school-wide reading/learning strategy programs for all content area teachers.
As a curriculum coordinator, Karen serves as a content specialist in reading, English, and social studies. She is also the coordinator for the gifted and talented and advanced placement programs for Canyon ISD.
Ms. Brooks received her B.S. from Texas A&M University and a M.S. from the University of Houston-Clear Lake City.

Debbie Boyer is currently the Instructional Technology Coordinator for Canyon Independent School District in Canyon, Texas. She has devoted sixteen years to education, all of which have been with CISD. Her classroom teaching experiences range from 3rd grade to 9th grade, including a year as Title I reading teacher.
After receiving her Master's degree in library science, Mrs. Boyer enjoyed several years as a K-5th and 6th-8th grade librarian. Boyer says the librarian's job is a perfect combination of books and technology.
Boyer's move to district-level Coordinator of Instructional Technology was an opportunity to provide a wide variety of services to CISD students and teachers. Staff development and curriculum support are two areas that Boyer enjoys most with her current job. She is also fortunate to work with the CISD gifted and talented program.
Mrs. Boyer received her Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University and her Master's of Library Science from Texas Woman's University.
