About the Author

Graeme Wilson is a distance education teacher in Chilliwack School District. He was the computer helping teacher and curriculum coordinator for the district for many years.

Graeme wrote and developed a computer-based technology education curriculum program, the Technology Wheel, which is used in over 1000 schools across North America. In this program, his grade 8 and 9 students designed and built air powered rockets, CO2 powered dragsters, wind and solar powered vehicles, bridges and towers. They also made laser light shows and shot their own holograms.

Graeme has created a number of professional multimedia titles, including the official Whitewings Science of Flight CD ROM (distributed in North America and Japan), a number of multimedia yearbooks and Conference Archive CDs. Graeme has written many resources for teachers, such as the Macintosh Survival Guide, local teaching aids for ClarisWorks, HyperCard, Kid Pix and HyperStudio, a Photoshop course and a digital video production course.

He is currently writing the new Social Studies 7 curriculum for the Open Learning Agency. Graeme won the 1990 Marshall McLuhan distinguished teacher awards for both B.C. and Canada, the 1991 Hilroy Fellowship Award for B.C. and was selected as a member of the National Institute (now the Prime Minister's Awards)

Graeme was a member of the Writing Team (Frameworks) which developed the new British Columbia Technology Education curriculum for Grades 7 to 10.

As a summer lecturer, he wrote and delivered a six credit UBC course, training teachers in the new technology education curriculum. Graeme was a
founding member, Program Director and Financial Officer of the ITCC (Information Technology Curriculum Consortium), through which twelve school districts created a searchable online database of lesson plans that integrate IT and core curriculum areas from the BC Curriculum. Membership includes thirty-three school districts across British Columbia (www.itcc.bc.ca).

Graeme has presented new ideas and curriculum to teachers at education conferences and professional days in Vancouver, Richmond, Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, Abbotsford, Calgary, Edmonton, Kananaskis, Hope, Victoria, Kamloops and Kelowna.

In addition to his interests in technology, Graeme loves skiing, kayaking, hiking and golf. He traveled through the Middle East and India for several years and hiked to the base camp of Mt. Everest. He and his wife Sharon have built their own log house in the backwoods of British Columbia.
