For the past 3-4 years, the focus has been too narrowly upon the networking and equipping of classrooms, but we are likely to see a shift of emphasis to learning and accountability.
Program will start to count more than equipment. We will see more attention paid to the educational bottom line: student performance. We will see devotion to professional development, curriculum development and product development.
The "Missing Half" is the learning part of the product.
We will see the "wired school" replaced by the "information literate school community" as focus turns to improving student reading, writing and reasoning with the new technologies.
We will see new versions of the Internet (Internet 2 and Internet 3) which offer speed, reliability and content quality. |
